Jersey's appeal as a tax transparent hub for institutional investment confirmed

Independent international research agency, Europe Economics, has published a new report that clearly demonstrates why institutional investors such as pension funds, sovereign wealth funds and endowment funds choose to invest via Jersey funds and structures. Using empirical evidence, the report sets out the scale of such investment and the breadth of drivers for doing business in Jersey. It also recognises that, although important, the provision of a tax neutral platform alone is not the only reason for investing through Jersey.

In summary, the report's findings show that the other main drivers are:

  1. A stable, proportionate and flexible regulatory regime
  2. Ease of doing business in a common law legislative structure, proximate to the City of London and with substance through access to a deep pool of 13,000 skilled finance professionals
  3. Sector expertise, particularly in real estate and private equity, and the network effects of specialism
  4. Overall cost savings stemming from the ease of doing business, retention of recognition of tax-exempt status and scale and reach of Jersey's benefits
  5. Knowledge spillover in the diffusion of knowledge and skills between firms on the island
  6. Pedigree of developing new products for certain investor types

In addition, the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information on Tax Matters recently confirmed that Jersey is fully 'compliant' with all global standards of international tax transparency. This is an unequivocal endorsement of Jersey's ability to deliver on its international obligations and is a further, strong message that Jersey is a global leader in tax transparency.
