Whitmill team steps up for local charity

It is recommended that we aim to walk 10,000 steps a day and the Whitmill team easily clocked up their quota as joined hundreds of Islanders on the Doreen Hennessy Good Friday Walk recently. The walk, sponsored for the last two years by Whitmill Trust, has helped to raise thousands of pounds for Jersey Hospice Care.

The Whitmill walkers joined hosts of other supporters as they set off from the first lay-by at West Park to the sounds of local band ‘Run for Cover’ - thankfully the sun shone so nobody had to run for cover!

The stroll along Jersey’s Esplanade to St Aubin and back was first organised by local lady Doreen Hennessy to raise money for an MRI scanner for Jersey’s General Hospital and has since become an annual fundraiser for Jersey Hospice Care.

Frederick Deacon, Director at Whitmill Trust said, “I’d personally like to congratulate all the Whitmill team who gave up their time to walk, support and raise money for such a worthwhile cause and I am delighted to confirm that Whitmill will be sponsoring the event for the third year running in 2018.”
